Along with college preparatory courses, ACT/SAT prep courses, and ACE Portfolio materials, we offer students a study abroad program in Belize. This study abroad programs provides compelling personal experiences in which students can draw from to create their personal statement essays for college entrance applications.
The Study Abroad Excursion includes the following key components:
1. **Introduction to Belizean Leadership**
Students will have the opportunity to meet and learn from one of the ministers of Belize, gaining insights into leadership, governance, and cultural heritage.
2. **Cultural and Historical Exploration**
A visit to one of the spectacular Mayan ruins of Belize, will provide students with a deep understanding of Belize’s rich history and archaeological significance, which will foster a sense of global awareness and historical perspective.
3. **Marine Biology, and Environmental Education**
Snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley and exploring the coral reef, one of the most beautiful and captivating places on earth, will expose students to marine biology and environmental conservation, highlighting the importance of preserving our natural world.
4. **Adventure and Personal Growth**
Zip-lining hundreds of feet off the ground and through pitch black caves will challenge students physically and mentally, promoting personal growth, confidence, and resilience.
5. **Community and Environmental Service**
Participation in a service project for the people of Belize will foster the value of community involvement and social responsibility, resulting in the encouragement to contribute positively to society through example and conservation efforts.
6. **Writing**
Students will be required to keep accurate journals during their participation. They will then be assisted in turning those journals into a written personal statement. Each statement will be reviewed and edited multiple times to craft the statement that will make each student stand out when viewed by the college entrance selection committee.
The Study Abroad portion begins in October, with slots in October, November, January, February, March, but registration slots are limited so early registration is required.
What we offer:
Experience: Snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley and the worlds Second Largest coral reef; Hiking ancient religious Mayan ruins; zip-lining through the Belizean Rain Forest; Tube through caves and view religious archeological sites; tour a real jungle zoo; meet with ministers; and take part in conservation efforts in the region.
You will be required to keep a hand written journal of your experiences and thoughts so that you can create one of a kind personal essay required to complete the program. Our program includes online classes as part of your study abroad that you can complete throughout the school year. We follow up with one on one tutoring, editing, and critiquing of your personal essay.
This program offers in-person educational experiences, instructional coursers, and supplemental material for your ACE portfolio.
Your tuition pays for an in person 7 day study abroad program in the Caribbean County of Belize and and also includes hybrid online modules covering:
Conservation
Archeology
Health Science
Marine Biology
Reading and Writing
Botany
Zoology
Poly science.
Material is applicable to the Caribbean region, but the basic principals and knowledge are applied across the learning spectrum.
